We are helping FORMA GUATEMALA to create a library within their next new learning center. Our beginning goal is to collect 300 books.
FORMA GUATEMALA is a Guatemalan founded and operated non-profit organization which works to strengthen and facilitate education in order to give children a voice in their future. FORMA stands for “Forjando Mi Mañana” or “Forging My Tomorrow,” an appropriate name, as this is what the Guatemalan students are doing – forging a path forward for themselves and their country. Visit www.formaguatemala.org to learn more about what FORMA GUATEMALA does and about all that their students have accomplished.
FORMA GUATEMALA has four (soon to be five) community learning centers where children are taught Spanish language reading and writing, math, and computers. These learning centers are privately funded and serve to supplement public-school education. A special priority is placed on literacy in Spanish because while Spanish is the official language of the country, many students speak solely an indigenous language at home and only start Spanish when they begin school. We feel that by building a library for FORMA GUATEMALA’s new learning center, we are helping to give children a strong basis for their early education and their future success.
